Welcome to Future Wolverton
We are a membership based Community Benefit Society with a mission to establish Wolverton as a thriving and sustainable town within the city of Milton Keynes. We do this by enabling an active and involved community to protect and celebrate the unique heritage of the Town, whilst developing new business, housing and community facilities to ensure future prosperity.
Members of the local community, officers from Milton Keynes Council, and representatives from Arriva, London Northwestern Railway gathered together on 7th March to discuss proposals for redevelopment of the Agora site. The Stakeholder Workshop was the first stage in a...
Just before Christmas, local residents, members of Future Wolverton and staff and students from Slated Row School gathered to dedicate a memorial bench to Joe and Margaret Caudle who were residents of the Old School for over 60 years.
After many years of false starts and missed opportunities the Agora is finally going to be demolished and redeveloped. TOWN, a London-based developer who have been interested in the site for over 6 years, have joined forces with Swedish builder Trivselhus, to propose a £25 million Town Centre regeneration scheme.
Future Wolverton was responsible for delivering the Wolverton Town Centre Neighbourhood Plan on behalf of Wolverton & Greenleys Town Council.
We have a role in ensuring that the objectives and policies of the Neighbourhood Plan are realised, and are involved in commenting on planning applications which impact on the delivery of the Plan.
As a not for profit enterprise, Future Wolverton is concerned with the development of the local economy. We want to promote local businesses of all types, and encourage mutually beneficial local trade and local shopping.
The redevelopment of the Agora will kick-start a change in the attractiveness of Wolverton Town Centre, and we hope to work with local businesses to make the most of the opportunities this will bring.
Future Wolverton is committed to the sustainable development of Wolverton, and has done considerable work in the past on improving the energy efficiency of the Victorian housing stock.
Our sister organisation – Wolverton Community Energy – was established as a result of this work, and we work closely together to develop community owned renewable energy in Wolverton and across Milton Keynes.
OLD SCHOOL PROJECT
The Old School is a Grade 2 listed building on Old Wolverton Road which was previously owned by The Radcliffe Trust.
Future Wolverton purchased the building in April 2017, and once building works are complete the building will re-open as a Community Centre and 3- bedroomed guest house, run in conjunction with Slated Row School.
